In an attempt to be healthy before my holiday to France, I decided to give this super-healthy dessert recipe a go – avocado chocolate mousse. Now, avocado in a dessert may sound strange, but I promise you, it doesn’t taste of it, and just gives it a beautiful creamy texture. And this recipe is also dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan and raw, so it’s suitable for pretty much everyone. Best of all, it took less than five minutes to make. My kind of dessert!
Avocado Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients:
- 1 large ripe Hass avocado
- 1tbsp cacao powder (or cacao nibs)
- 1tbsp date syrup
- pinch of sea salt
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- pinch of chilli powder (optional)
Method:
- Put all ingredients into a blender, and blend!
- Decant into small bowls and enjoy!
- If you prefer a firmer mousse, leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours before eating.
This is what you call a guilt-free pudding. It’s full of goodness and none of the artificial stuff (okay, depends on your vanilla essence, but this can easily be omitted!), yet it tastes like it should be a million calories and totally sinful! Hooray! Pudding nirvana! I enjoyed it in the garden with the latest copy of Ernest Journal, and revelled in my moment of peace and quiet.
I am bringing this dessert to Fiesta FridaΒ even though I’m away on holiday. Sorry to miss you all, but I look forward to catching up on all your great recipes when I’m back, and maybe I’ll even have some French delicacies to share next week!
So, what do you think? Avocados in dessert – a yay or a nay?
I once made brownies with avocado and they were horrible! I’m willing to try again . The mousse looks delicious!
